Students can join explorers live while on expedition and become naturalists in their own back yard through Bio Blitz. National Geographic representatives will share how local programs can participate in engaging STEM opportunities for kids at no cost. With an amazing resource library and a variety of exploration activities for all ages, this is a pre-conference you won’t want to miss! Save the date: October 10, 2019. Time and further details to be announced.

Resilience. Connection. Mindfulness. Movement. Kid-grit is a holistic approach to developing mindful leaders, where social-emotional learning, youth development and character-education meet. Julia Gabor and Jeffrey Jordan, co-founders of kid-grit, will headline the 2019 conference, bringing their philosophy and curriculum to South Dakota.

The kid-grit curriculum lessons are aligned with the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) and Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) research-based framework, assuring that students receive quality and evidence-learning strategies that equip them for success in school and life.

Participants will become immersed in the kid-grit curriculum and will be involved in interactive and dynamic discussions and activities exploring mind, body, community engagement, and social and digital awareness as an approach to building up youth. Participants will also explore knowledge of their own wellness or educator-grit! The kid-grit curriculum will be available for purchase at a deeply discounted rate. Many more professional development topics will also be covered. Check back for more information!
